Ashoka Fellows global gathering: Intergenerational Health
🗓 Date: Wednesday, May 27th, 2026
⏰ Time: 14:00–15:00 CET
🔗 In English, via Zoom: Register here.
This is an invitation for Ashoka Fellows to join our next online gathering for changemakers transforming systems worldwide. This 1-hour session will focus on Intergenerational Health: exploring how and why engaging older adults as active contributors (not just recipients) of health delivery can transform communities and strengthen health systems in an aging world.
During the session, you will hear from Ashoka Fellow Chris Underhill, a Senior Ashoka Fellow who pioneered community-based mental health care across fifteen countries. Chris' work highlights a powerful and often overlooked idea: the importance of elderly people being part of the solution in health promotion. Chris is also the co-founder of the Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs, a community that provides support to social innovators through the insights and experience of elder social entrepreneurs. At this peer-learning and sharing session, you will also hear insights on how they have adapted the model of the Friendship Bench, founded by Ashoka Fellow Dixon Chibanda.
What will you get:
- Connection: A unique opportunity to interact with social entrepreneurs globally, and enrich your network.
- Learning from experience: Sharing and learning from others' questions, models and approaches in a space specifically curated for Ashoka Fellows.
We look forward to seeing you at this global Ashoka Fellows gathering!
Central to Ashoka's approach in identifying new health Fellows, partnering with health actors, and driving paradigm shifts in the health system is the notion of Health Agency.
Health Agency is achieved when individuals, with their communities, can lead, direct, and contribute to their own health journeys and those of others.
