Meet the Early Entry Winners of the Green Changemakers Challenge

We are thrilled to announce the Early Entry winners of Ashoka’s Green Changemakers Challenge - a global innovation challenge in partnership with HSBC, that recognizes changemakers who are building a sustainable and equitable world by activating others as problem-solvers.

The Green Changemakers Challenge received hundreds of submissions from around the world, and we are excited to honor the innovative solutions of our early entry winners, who are equipping others with the mindset and capabilities to contribute towards tackling the climate crisis. 

These solutions demonstrated their:

• Connection and commitment to green changemaking
• Approach in enabling other people to identify as green changemakers
• Impact by showing how their solution contributes to a zero-carbon world
• Original and creative approach to problem-solving
• Plans for continuing to create impact in the long run

Without further ado, the winners of the Green Changemakers Challenge Early Entry are:

PlastiSkul (Country of Impact: India 🇮🇳): An international consortium whose purpose is to support and experiment with new territorialized production models through the creation of micro-factories using plastic waste as raw materials. (🔎view their application to the Challenge here)

Vermi-Farm Initiative (Country of Impact: Kenya 🇰🇪): A project that aims to empower smallholder farmers with sustainable and innovative Agri-Tech solutions that increase crop yields and reduce water usage, while creating market linkages for their surplus produce. Fossil Free Zones (Country of Impact: United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪): A bottom-up climate action matrix that connects and gives visibility to places that have ended fossil fuels and empowers everyone to move beyond the fossil fuel age. (🔎view their application to the Challenge here)

We were impressed with the diversity of solutions and the commitment of the changemakers behind them. These winning innovations are creating inclusive pathways for people to contribute, turning data and information into stories that spark action, and creating structures of support for existing solutions.

The Green Changemakers Challenge is a platform for changemakers to share their ideas and solutions with the world. We believe that by working together, we can create a more equitable and regenerative future for all.
