Ashoka Appoints Pape Samb Representative For Africa

Arlington, VA – November 1, 2016. Ashoka: Innovators for the Public has announced that Pape Samb has been appointed its Representative for Africa.

Mr. Samb has served as Chairman and CEO of Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN), a youth run and led network of more than 5,000 young leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and farmers in approximately 100 countries.

Mr. Samb previously served as President of CAP-Jeunesse, a Sengalese network of youth organizations, and President and CEO of Phelps Stokes, in Washington, DC. Phelps Stokes, established in 1911, by Caroline Phelps Stokes, is especially known for its contributions to education in the U.S. South particularly for African Americans and British Colonial Africa. Serving as the youngest and first non-American to head the organization, he provided leadership and vision in globalization and investing in a new generation of global leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, students and citizens, with particular attention to people of color and indigenous affiliation.

He is a recipient of the Great Heart Award from the Ghandi Research Foundation, the Leadership in Excellence Award from the Nimba Foundation and Next Generation of Leaders Award from the Africa Diaspora for Change.
