Changes in climate are shifting Inuit culture and livelihood. Vanishing sea ice and unpredictable conditions also affect travel safety and require new ways of sharing knowledge once transferred through oral history.
With his colleagues at the Arctic Eider Society, Ashoka Fellow Joel Heath created SIKU: The Indigenous Knowledge Social Network to tap traditional knowledge and Indigenous-driven solutions in the far North. The result? Ideas for mitigating the effects of climate change and new opportunities for local conservation economies, with Inuit self-determination at their core.
Join us on May 11 @ 12pm ET, to hear from Joel and learn more about his work at the Arctic Eider Society. The conversation will run about 30 minutes. Bring your questions!
