Diaspora Roundtable: How to Build Partnerships Towards Changemaking at Home and Back Home
Most conversations around diaspora tend to be shaped by the institutions that want to partner with diaspora communities. That's why these conversations tend to focus on the role of remittances, international aid, etc.. However, diasporas are powerful actors for change stepping up to address important issues both their countries of origin and destination from humanitarian assistance to combatting xenophobia. Ashoka and IOM are proposing a roundtable where diaspora organisations get to shape the conversation, describing their strategies, showcasing their impact and social innovation and exploring how to build effective partnerships that meet the aspirations of diaspora communities.
Speakers: Peter Kwok - Chair of the Global Diaspora Confederation Grace Obado - President of Africa 2.0 and Associate Professor at IE University Roberto Gil Cancel Comas - Especialista Regional en Movilidad Laboral y Desarrollo Humano para OIM Asier Ansorena - Diaspora Networks Leader at Ashoka
