End-of-year informal community event: Changemaking Wishes
As we approach the end of 2023, we come together to reflect as a community and honour how this year has been marked by profound inward and outward events that have shaped our lives. We have experienced a rainbow of emotions and now, as we close the calendar year, we want to revisit these significant moments, learn from them, and grow with them.
Bring your cherished memories, perhaps a pen and journal, and find a safe, comfortable space from which to join our online gathering (you may choose to have a blanket, hot beverage, candles, personal objects, or whatever helps support your reflection and allows you to bring your whole self).
We will spend one hour together with some background music and guiding questions. Each of you can choose how you want to reflect on these prompts (through writing, drawing, painting, dancing, having a dialogue) and you are not required to share your reflections with others.
Guiding principles of this community event:
This space is free of judgment and discrimination; everyone is invited to reflect at their own pace, in their preferred manner, and with the tools they like the most.
- Flexibility: stay as long as you wish and is valuable for you,
- Rhythmic guidance: let yourself be guided by the music and questions,
- Widening our feelings: whatever memories, images, smells, or sensations you feel, include them in this reflection process,
- Selective focus: if a question draws you more, stay with it as long as you need,
- Openness to explore: if new questions pop up in your train of thought, stay with them, they appeared for a reason,
- We value your privacy: when the meeting starts, feel free to close your microphone and video, you are joining to give yourself the gift of reflection and you are not required to share what comes up in your process,
- Stay present: if possible, remove any distractions from your reflection space when you join this community space.
The session will be in English with guiding questions being translated into multiple languages.
