Ashoka's New South Asia Leader
Ashoka has identified one of our internal leaders to accelerate our work in the South Asia region. The goal is simple—to ensure that all South Asian people realize their power to contribute and create change for the good of all.
We are excited to announce Dr. Shruti Nair as the new acting Diamond Leader of Ashoka South Asia!
Shruti is poised to effectively lead South Asia in supporting social entrepreneurs and unleashing the “Everyone a Changemaker” framework. Shruti has been working with Ashoka since 2019, and in the last five years has transformed many ideas into impact, building momentum around Ashoka’s goals.
Get to know Shruti Nair:
Shruti began her Ashoka career by building impact strategy, before stepping up to lead the Youth Years program in South Asia. Prior to Ashoka, Shruti helped various social enterprises and impact organizations to measure and communicate their impact. With Shruti’s extensive work in South Asia—experience in systems change thinking, building and scaling institutions, and measuring and communicating impact—she brings a deep understanding of how to strategically build a community of Ashoka Fellows, Ashoka Young Changemakers, and institutional partners to help the region, and society at large, reimagine a framework in which everyone is a changemaker. Shruti’s passion for enabling changemakers and innovating solutions will be most significant in propelling Ashoka’s mission.
Prior to Ashoka, Shruti also worked with one of India’s largest impact investment funds and later with Social Venture Partners, an international venture philanthropy organization. Shruti is a sought-after speaker on women’s leadership, social entrepreneurship, and systems change at various national and international forums. Femina Magazine recognized Shruti as one of the 50 most influential women leaders of India in the year 2020.
Ashoka foresees Shruti’s new leadership as critical to tap South Asia’s incredible capacity for innovation and impact. Shruti will apply her unique know-how and insights to ensure that the South Asia Diamond continues to drive positive systemic change, creating a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
