Learning to be Nature
Climate change and biodiversity loss are not technical crises, they are cultural and educational failures. Modern societies have learned to treat nature as a resource rather than as the living system we depend on.
Across academics, nature leaders, and Indigenous communities there is growing agreement that sustainability requires helping people learn to live as part of the living world. Yet there is currently no shared research infrastructure that allows these different communities of knowledge to work together in ethical, legitimate, and scalable ways. Learning to Be Nature addresses this bottleneck.
This gathering in Oxford during the Skoll World Forum 2026 will be an opportunity to talk about this project, and chat about how to collectively shift the education systems and the worldview at the root of ecological collapse.
