Ashoka UK Launches Generation Changemaker

This marks the next chapter in Ashoka’s effort to build the UK’s largest intergenerational community of changemakers where young people and social entrepreneurs act together to shape solutions for the common good.

Across the UK, young people are reimagining classrooms, communities, and neighbourhoods. They are building projects that connect people, protect the planet, strengthen democracy, and are a force for good. At Ashoka, we believe that every young person has the potential to be a changemaker: to see a problem and mobilise people around them to solve it.

We launched Generation Changemaker (GenC), to spotlight some of these young leaders and cultivate the largest network of intergenerational social change leaders in the UK. Our Generation Changemakers, aged 13–18, are leading change across the UK through impactful initiatives, each driven by a deep passion for creating positive social change for the good of all. This year, we are honoured to be spotlighting four remarkable young leaders who exemplify what it means to be a changemaker.

"I'm beyond excited to become a Generation Changemaker and stand alongside a community of young leaders who are making an indelible positive impact on society. This is an incredible opportunity to scale and amplify my mission to improve young people's relationship with addictive technology. I am so grateful to Ashoka for the inspiring support they offer GenC, together we are proving that young people aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow, but the changemakers of today."

Mirriam, 15, from Worcester, is transforming her school, replacing prejudice with empathy through student-led events and creativity.

Why This Matters

In a year when 16- and 17-year-olds can finally vote in the UK, these stories remind us of something even deeper: young people have always been active citizens. They organise, build, and imagine new ways forward, often long before they are recognised for it. Ashoka is proud to honour the wisdom that young people bring to shaping a more just and compassionate world, and recognise their lived experiences in our UKI community as essential to lasting social change.
