Marie Ringler leads Ashoka's work across Europe and serves on Ashoka's Global Leadership Group. 

Since founding Ashoka's Austrian office in 2011, she has held positions as Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and, from 2018, as Europe Leader. She oversees work in over 25 country offices supporting more than 800 Ashoka Fellows, and has led the global Fellow selection process with social innovators across Africa, Latin America and Asia, including in countries such as Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia. 

Ringler studied Sociology, Political Science and Women's Studies at the University of Vienna, followed by studies at ESADE Business School and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen. In the late 1990s she was managing director of Public Netbase, an art and technology institution exploring the social implications of the internet. 

She served as a Vienna City Councillor and Regional Parliament member from 2001, the youngest elected member at that time. During her time in office, she focused on developing policy to drive innovations in society and served on the Vienna Department of Commerce Advisory Board, initiated the city's Open Source Software Strategy and developed a federal policy program for innovation. After two successful terms in office, she decided against a lifelong career in politics and established Ashoka's Austrian office in Vienna. 

She holds current board positions including Vice-President of the European Forum Alpbach, Member of the Advisory Board of Philea (Philanthropy Europe Association), and serves on several award juries.
