Rainbow Community School
Rainbow Community School believes that we are being invited to a higher consciousness as a human community. They respond to this invitation with their mission: “We develop accomplished, confident, and creative learners who are prepared to be leaders in building a compassionate and environmentally sustainable world.” Rainbow strives to provide a model for the education of children, the inspiration of families, and the personal and professional growth of staff. This model will inspire educators everywhere to grow and evolve their programs by bravely and creatively embracing the seven domains of the whole child, thereby increasing humanity’s collective awareness and capacity for growth.
Renee Owen
Renee is always telling people that she has learned more from the children at Rainbow than they have learned from her. Every time she sees a child at Rainbow do something kind for another child, Renee is reminded that when children have the opportunity to grow up in an environment where love and empathy are a habit, they affect peace everywhere they go. At Rainbow, the most important lesson Renee has learned is that she had to start with her own heart before she could educate the children. She wondered how she could teach peace with a torrent of conflict inside her own heart. Renee believes that if people took it upon themselves to truly model peace for just one other person – a child – the world would be transformed one heart at a time.
