Mission Grammar School believes that instilling love for others, empathy, and a deep understanding of the Gospel Values will support scholars throughout their lives and help them to make lasting change in their communities. They have a shared leadership model and developed a core set of values based on Responsive Classroom: CARES (cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control). Students design their own service-learning projects beginning in preschool through the Peace First Program, and the Catholic social teaching doctrine allows them to explore matters of social justice, issues around poverty and wealth, economics, social organization, and the role of the state.
Maura Bradley
Entering her twentieth year in education, Maura often recalls the walk to Mission Hill that began her career working in urban education. Having been born to a father who came to the US with one goal - school, Maura is keenly aware of the opportunity of schools and the power that lies in each one. Grounded in the belief that we are here to serve one another and make change in the world, Maura has been afforded many opportunities to develop, share and improve her skills around this mission. Serving as a school leader at a Peace First Showcase School and Responsive Classroom School, Maura has the responsibility to work in partnership with families, scholars, and teachers to foster a climate and culture celebrating and organized around social and academic learning. As a Lynch Leadership Fellow, Maura has had the unique experience of working across school sectors (Catholic, District, and Charter) to strengthen her leadership in partnership with mission-driven educators.
