Anna-Lena is leading the way to safeguard and strengthen an open and inclusive public discourse in the evolving digital society, at a moment where the spread of hate speech, cyber-violence and misinformation threatens to undermine democratic values, social cohesion, and peace. She is the founder and managing director of HateAid its, Germanys first counseling and contact point for victims of digital violence. The organization offers victims of hate speech an initial emotional stabilizing consultation and, if necessary, legal costs financing. Through a fund to finance litigation costs, HateAid conducts civil litigation against Internet bullying on behalf of those affected. This way, Anna-Lena ensures that online hate is prosecuted as criminal acts and aggressors are hold accountable.

Julia has been part of Ashoka since April 2019. She deals with topics at the intersection of technology and society and is currently working on the development of an international network on the topic of Tech & Humanity.
Julia is the founder of a number of initiatives. Among others, the support program Prototype Fund and the feminist think tank Superrr. She is a speaker at national and international conferences.
