A Place to Bark is an NGO that works to rehabilitate deserted canines in Hyderabad.

The Problem

Unfortunately, many people in our society are cruel towards animals or have no empathy for them. So many people buy exotic pets and abandon them; others won’t even help a wounded mother with 6 pups across the road. Also, our cities have no shelters for breed dogs currently.

The Solution

A Place To Bark Society cares for abandoned and abused animals that are having rough experiences in their lives. They rehabilitate, retrain and rehome the animals in the best families who deserve them.

The Venture

Place to Bark Society runs various activities ranging from Animal adoption, rehabilitation, dealing with cruelty cases, retraining, providing medical assistance to the injured animals, rescuing abused animals from pathetic conditions, organizing adoption drives for the orphaned street puppies, creating awareness through various events, spreading awareness in schools, college and orphanages, and sending food to animals affected by Natural Calamities. The project started initially with dogs but over the years has expanded to cats, pigeons, ducks, turkeys, hens and rabbits. Two years after launching the venture, Zabi joined college and was difficult for him to manage the shelter along with his studies. Through his work, he inspired and motivated other students in his college to sympathize with his cause and join his team. With strong pressure from him and his college team, Zabi convinced college authorities to open an animal shelter in college and has made his college the first Animal-Friendly Educational campus. A Place To Bark Society has been successful in creating a self-sufficient, self-governing system in his college where they have a team of 35 student volunteers who are divided into 7 batches who take care of all the rescued animals in the shelter. Zabi is working towards replicating this model in other schools and colleges. The venture has done 180+ rescues and 500+ adoptions in a span of 2 years, along with 6 months follow up on the adoptions.

Motopaws produces reflective collars from 3M and used denim for street dogs across the country to prevent accidents.

The Problem

Many dogs are killed in roads by vehicular accidents which are caused by the low visibility of these dogs by the drivers.

The Solution

Increasing the visibility of the dogs by lighting up the streets.

The Venture

Motopaws by Touch Heart makes reflective collars for street dogs to make them visible from a distance. Reflective collars have been in the market for a while now, but they are only suitable for dogs under a constant watch. The Motopaws collar, first of its kind in India is made out of a denim base and uses buttons instead of a buckle which makes it comfortable to wear throughout and is fit for all seasons. Hence, the design is ideal for street dogs.
