St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic School

Inclusion plays an important role in St. Madeleine Sophie’s identity as a Changemaker School. A Catholic school at which 20% of the student population receives special education services, St. Madeleine Sophie views inclusion as an opportunity for all students, teachers, and parents at the school to empathize with each other and support each other in their efforts to make positive change in the community. As a result of the school’s efforts and investments to encourage inclusion and teamwork, 83 percent of fourth through eighth graders reported that they feel they belong at St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic School, and 96 percent of kindergarten through third graders reported that they like school.

Daniel E. Sherman

Principal

Nearing thirty years in administrative experience, Daniel has been blessed to serve as school principal, statewide executive director for educational public policy, planning consultant, and coordinator for equitable access. By far, the most meaningful years have been spent helping the community of St. Madeleine Sophie open this new school with the intentional focus of welcoming and embracing students and their families who may never have had the opportunity to attend a Catholic school. Being asked to collaborate with others who share a passion for assisting students who have been marginalized either through economics, social status, or academic hurdles brings a daily joy to his work. Daniel is most proud of the rich diversity of families to which St. Madeleine Sophie’s offers a choice and Daniel is confident that, even though St. Madeleine Sophie is new, they are part of making a difference in the direction of their lives.
