Tulin and TABIT enables three million farmers and their families in Turkey to participate more actively in economic and social life through information technologies.
While information technologies are creating new opportunities for knowledge sharing and interaction nearly every sector in Turkey, the agricultural sector and farmers cannot benefit sufficiently from these important tools.
Through its web portal tarimsalpazarlama.com, while TABIT is putting into life Turkey's first and leading contact, e-learning and e-commerce media in order to provide current information to farmers, technical application information variable abilities and professional development opportunities, it is bringing together these two apart groups - farmers and information technologies - and offering farmers opportunities to reach alternative markets without using traditional mediator structures.
The portal that farmers can access to through just one SMS message or from internet cafes, served more than three million farmers today and has expanded in Egypt, Ghana, India, New Zealand, Tanzania and Kenya which are the countries having similar farmer profile with Turkey. In order to enable farmers to open up to international markets and to encourage the use of technology in rural life, Tülin Akın launched Vodafone Smart Village in cooperation with Vodafone. Tülin’s 2019 plans include creating a portal for women farmers to sell their local products and models to promote the Smart Village model in Turkey.
