She is also currently Non Executive Chairman at DÍA Hard discount Stores and Non-Executive Director at Société Générale, Service Point Solutions, and Music Intelligent Solutions with its Internet artist site uplaya.com. Ana María is Spanish, was born in Venezuela and has a PhD from the University of California Berkeley in Materials Sciences Engineering Cum Laude and a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Sciences degree In Physics and Minor in Mathematics from the University of Maryland.

Anke Domscheit-Berg is founder and director of opengov.me, a consulting business, helping governments to become more open and transparent, as well as of fempower.me, a consulting and training business helping women managers and their organisations to break down barriers for women in leadership positions. Prior to this, she had been working for 15 years as IT consultant and project leader at Accenture and McKinsey's Business Technology Office and as a Director at Microsoft Germany. At McKinsey, she led the study "A wake-up call for female leadership in Europe" and contributed to the study "Women Matter".

 

 

Anousheh Ansari

On September 18, 2006, Anousheh Ansari captured headlines around the world as the first female private space explorer travelling to and staying onboard the International Space Station for 10 days. Afterwards, back on Earth as a successful serial entrepreneur, Anousheh returned to her job as Co-founder and Chairman of her latest technology company, Prodea Systems. In her previous endeavor in 2001, Anousheh had served as Co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the board for Telecom Technologies, Inc. An active proponent of world-changing technologies and social entrepreneurship, in 2004 Anousheh and her family provided the title sponsorship for the Ansari X Prize, a $10 million cash award for the first non-governmental organization to launch a reusable manned spacecraft into space twice within two weeks. Furthermore, Anousheh currently works to enable social entrepreneurs to bring about radical change globally, with organizations such as ASHOKA and the PARSA Community Foundation. She also hopes her tale of determination, hope and success inspires children to dream big and study hard to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.

 

Badr Jafar

Badr Jafar is President of Crescent Petroleum, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates for over 40 years and with offices worldwide, where he leads project development and financial deal structuring activities for the group. Mr Jafar also serves as CEO of Crescent Investments, the group’s project investments division, and as Chairman of Gas Cities LLC, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas PJSC. He is also actively involved in business development in Dana Gas PJSC, the Gulf region’s first and largest listed private sector natural gas company, and serves on its International Advisory Board. Mr Jafar serves as Chairman of Pearl Petroleum, a partnership between Crescent Petroleum, Dana Gas, OMV of Austria and MOL of Hungary.

Christoph is based in the New York office and leads the Sustainability Practice of Egon Zehnder International as well as the firm’s US Private Equity Practice. Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Christoph was a partner at 3Stone Advisors, where he spent four years leading the water investment practice of the partnership. His previous professional career includes roles as managing partner of Rigger+Stern Capital Management; and President of DBW Fiber. Christoph’s work has been published in Environmental Finance, People & Strategy, McKinsey Quarterly Online and MIT’s Sloan Management Review.

David Kirkpatrick is an author, journalist, and media entrepreneur. He wrote the definitive history and explanation of Facebook, The Facebook Effect: The Inside Story of the Company that is Connecting the World. Kirkpatrick is also founder and CEO of Techonomy Media, which hosts the annual Techonomy conference, focusing on the centrality of technology and innovation for business and all progress. The second annual Techonomy took place Nov. 13-15 in Tucson. Participants, the past two years have included Marc Benioff, Jim Breyer, Tyler Cowen, Jack Dorsey, Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Neelie Kroes, Sean Parker, Eric Schmidt, and Hamadoun Toure. Techonomy also produces video and textual editorial content focused on technology's integral role in, increasingly, everything.

Florian Seubert, 38, is CFO and founder of zooplus AG, a growing and expanding European online retail group with annual sales of around € 300 mm and a leading market position within its sector (pet and animal supplies) across all major European consumer markets. Within 10 years, zooplus was built from a 4-founder team to a publicly listed company with on-the-ground operations in Germany, France, UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland as well as China and Georgia. In addition to his current position, Florian is an active private investor in the European online space. Before setting up zooplus in 1999, Florian was an Investment Banker with JPMorgan International in the UK and the US. He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford. With his partner and 2 kids, Florian is based in Munich, Germany. 

 

Katharina Borchert

Katharina Borchert studied law in Hamburg and Lausanne and worked in the Human Rights sector in Namibia and Switzerland before she got caught up in the Web. She served as editor in chief of an early print magazine about the Internet and continued to write for and about the Web after the magazine went down with the rest of the economy. She joined WAZ NewMedia in 2006 and launched the regional news site DerWesten as editor in chief. In 2008 she was promoted to the management board of the WAZ Media Group where she was responsible for all of the company's online operations. In 2010 Katharina Borchert went on to work as CEO of Germany's leading news site Spiegel Online. She was nominated as Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum as well as Young European Leader in 2011.

Lars Hinrichs is the founder of HackFwd and a serial entrepreneur and investor. One of his first efforts, politik-digital.de, was an award-winning platform for politics and new media he launched at 22. Following that early success, his next venture, a respected new media consulting firm, went bust -- but not without first paying rich dividends in learning. Lars applied those learnings to his third major effort, XING, a highly successful business networking platform. As Founder and CEO, Lars oversaw its 2006 IPO, making XING the world’s first Web 2.0 company to go public. He then successfully steered it for two years post IPO. His most recent startup, HackFwd, is an innovative pre-seed investment company that supports Europe’s most passionate geeks in launching the world’s most exciting tech startups.

Dr. Maximilian Martin serves as Founding Faculty in Residence at Ashoka University, where he works with senior faculty in the United States to enable them to teach social entrepreneurship effectively, and as a Lecturer in Social Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Gallen. His previous work includes creating the first university course on social entrepreneurship in Europe at the University of Geneva, which he has kept teaching since 2003, and Europe’s first wealth management philanthropic advisory and knowledge exchange platform, UBS Philanthropy Services and the UBS Philanthropy Forum, which he established as the Bank’s global lead offering for the ultra-high net worth segment (2004-2009).

Paul Bernhard Kallen

Mr. Kallen, who holds a PhD in Economics, started his career in 1986 as an assistant to the CEO of a machinery manufacturing and engineering company in the Otto Wolff Group. Two years later, he joined the management consulting company McKinsey & Co, becoming a partner in 1993. After three years, he joined family-owned company Hubert Burda Media, initially as managing director for corporate finance, administration, personnel and managing director of Burda's international publishing holding. In 1999, Dr. Kallen was appointed Member of the Executive Board for Technology (Print, Internet, IT) in addition to his existing management duties.For the following years, of particular importance was the expansion of Burda’s Magazine Publishing activities to Turkey, Asia and France, and the development of Burda Digital, which currently comprises approximately 50 internet companies.

Peter Goldmark is chair of Ashoka's Changemakers. Previously, he directed the Climate and Air program for Environmental Defense from 2003 through 2010. Prior to joining Environmental Defense, he was Chairman and CEO of the International Herald Tribune. Peter has had exceptional careers in both the public and private sectors. His public service was highlighted by his tenure as Budget Director for the State of New York during the 1970s city- and state-wide fiscal crisis where he was an architect of its rescue; and as Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey through to 1983. He served as president of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1988 through 1997, encouraging its involvement in environmental issues, particularly as they related to energy.

As a recognised expert in asset management and business financing, Steven Wilkinson has advised numerous medium-sized firms as well as developing a number of alternative asset management businesses over the last 13 years. Before this, the British national worked for Merrill Lynch International Bank and Hartz, Regehr & Partner and gained extensive international experience.
