    Last november the rector of one of our Ashoka Changemaker Schools has been awarded for her work at the Vathorst College.

    Dr. Laura Emiko Soltis leads a modern-day freedom school for undocumented youth where students receive free college-level classes, college application assistance, and the social movement leadership training they need to determine the course of their own freedom struggle. Against a backdrop of Southern states that deny undocumented students equal access to public higher education, Freedom U is creating liberatory spaces for learning and advancing undocumented students’ human right to education.

    Sebastián seeks to change Chile’s educational system so that students’ passion and desire to learn are awakened through creative learning. Sebastián equips students with skills that support both academic achievement and psychological well-being. He does this through Consejo de Curso, a series of education programs that build upon children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn while positioning education as the opportunity to create life-long learners.

    Margret Rasfeld pioneers a systematic change in how schools unfold students' potential by radically putting them in charge of both their own education and of opening up schools to society. Having built two role model schools herself, she now drives a larger shift towards innovation and entrepreneurship with a network of and around schools pioneering meta-competencies for the 21st century.
