Earlier this month, Ashoka President Diana Wells was recognized for her role as an innovation champion by winning the first Social Innovation Champion Award at the fourth annual Accelerating Social Entrepreneurship (ASE) conference. Wells—together with Marion Morino, co-founder and chairman of Venture Philanthropy Partners and chairman of the Morino Institute, and Muna AbuSalayman, secretary general and executive director of The Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation—was honored for their groundbreaking work in applying innovative, sustainable and scalable social entrepreneurship solutions to pressing global problems.

The conference was hosted by George Mason University’s Center for Social Entrepreneurship. “We are honored to be able to highlight the important work of three groundbreaking social entrepreneurs who are positively impacting the lives of people across the globe,” said Greg Werkheiser, managing director of the Mason Center for Social Entrepreneurship.

“We thank the Center for Consciousness and Transformation, under the direction of Associate Dean Nance Lucas, for partnering with us to demonstrate that Mason is committed to help solve the world’s great challenges and to support those who dare to lead.”
