Solve MiT at the United Nations

#MeWeSyria in Jordan
Sorgente: #MeWeSyria in Jordan

At the United Nations, we explored how education can go beyond facts and figures, and help young people exercise empathy, resiliency, leadership, and the creative expression of imagined realities and solutions.

Ashoka's Youth Venture is utilizing the process of storytelling as a vehicle to distribute peer to peer healing, changemaker skills, and to ignite youth-led community building. Our program syncs personal social and emotional development with workforce skills development and creative enterprise for social good that puts empathy to action

Solve (solve.mit.edu), an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, together with UN Academic Impact (academicimpact.un.org), concluded its March 7 live pitch event, "Solve at the United Nations," with judges selecting 19 innovators, called "Solvers," who are committed to creating solutions in the challenge areas of Refugee Education, Carbon Contributions, and Chronic Diseases. Ashoka's Youth Venture were among selected Solvers who will now join the Solve community-- comprised of leaders from the private, public, nonprofit, and academic sectors--at Solve at MIT, on May 8-10, 2017.

Out of hundreds of innovations, Youth Venture's 'Storytelling for changemakers' program for refugees--#MeWeSyria--was selected as a finalist to pitch at Solve MiT's Summit. An extraordinary group of judges at the United Nations named Youth Venture as one of the winners in the category of 'Refugee Education'.

Congrats to the brave Syrian Changemakers in Turkey (with Darb-Syr), Jordan (with Questscope), and Lebanon who we are honored to learn from and collaborate with for empathy, peace, and youth-led innovation.
