Ashoka Fellows' Ideas Hit Brazilian Bookstands
São Paulo, November 27 - The Ashoka-McKinsey Center for Social Entrepreneurship in Brazil has launched Sustainable Social Entrepreneurship Projects, documenting two years' research, analysis, and business planning for civil-sector organizations. In partnership with McKinsey & Company, Ashoka has been strengthening citizen organizations by adapting the knowledge of the business sector to the needs of the citizen sector. "We hope this book inspires the 'third' sector, supporting it in planning and implementing projects that generate income for sustainable social action," said Vivianne Naigeborin of the CSE.
Also published recently was Social Entrepreneurs in Action - Innovative Environmental Initiatives, a book that examines thirteen successful, high-impact strategies for environmental protection developed by Brazilian Ashoka Fellows. As a sign of growing recognition that social entrepreneurs—especially Ashoka Fellows—are a wellspring of ideas and strategies for solving complex public problems, Social Entrepreneurs in Action has been included as required reading for business students at Rio de Janeiro's prominent research university, Pontifcia Universidade Catlica.
