The Creative Century
As AI makes it easier than ever to generate a song, a story, or a design, the originality still comes from people — people who've built careers making those things. Yancey Strickler believes we're in fact entering the Creative Century — but only if creators are properly compensated for the value they create for society, and free to create in ways truly designed for them. His answer is the Artist Corporation — a new legal structure giving creators real economic power through pooled resources, shared ownership, portable IP, and investment on their own terms — not just a paycheck, but a real stake in what they build. It's the next step for Strickler, who set out to change how creators get paid back in 2009, when he co-founded Kickstarter — a platform that's since channeled over $9 billion directly to creators.
