A Tribute to Shyam Chainani

Shyam Chainani

On December 25, 2011, Shyam Chainani, the green activist and Founder of the Bombay Environmental Action Group (BEAG), passed away. He was one of the key environment and urban planning pioneers and champions, first in Bombay and then all of India and also beyond. In addition, he was an early, key India Member of Ashoka.

The Ashoka community in India and around the world has lost a great friend.

Cyrus Guzder, Chairman of AFL Pvt Ltd and Trustee of the Bombay Environmental Action Group, recently authored an obituary and chronicle of Shyam's life in Business India that we encourage you to read. Click here to download the PDF.

Our sympathies are sent to the Chainani family and the BEAG community.
