Carola Capra : integrating small business owners into the formal marketplace

Country:
Bolivia

Carola Capra - founder of Red Nueva Empresa is a network of small business owners in Bolivia and Peru, which supports small and medium enterprises by connecting them to scholarships and management training. It was created as a response to the need to integrate small business owners and entrepreneurs into the formal marketplace and connect financial institutions with these underserved people.

The program incorporates knowledge and reflection about the basic aspects of managing a business so that the small businesses can continue to receive access to financing.

Carola was elected Ashoka Fellow in 2015 as part of the program cohort led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Hystra and Ashoka to support social entrepreneurship in Latin America.
