Description:

Are you interested in real work in finance and accounting field ? Do you want to be busy using skills you have learned in the classroom?  The finance intern will help develop skills and gain hands on experience of real work in the field of accounting and finance. You will be assisting on regular operation work as well as involved in challenging projects where you can think outside of the box and come up with financial and reporting solutions. This is a great position to have a exposure in real non profit finance field.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Expense analysis and development of financial dashboard and summary reports

  • Excel programming and project budget support

  • Assisting with routine invoices and expense tracking

  • Involved in various finance projects

  • Contributing directly to a fun and collegial environment

 

Requirements:

  • Finance and accounting background

  • Enjoy quantitative research, including spreadsheets and data integrity

  • Ability to review, analyze and manipulate data

  • Comfortable to do work on Excel with some programming knowledge in Excel

  • Multitasking, prior experience in the field is a plus

  • Possess strong learning attitude and prioritizing multiple tasks

  • Possess a broad, technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Have a desire to learn more about the Accounting field

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, writing and multi-tasking skills

  • Possess a strong intellectual curiosity

  • Show comfort working in an unstructured environment

  • May be either an undergraduate with some experience in economics or a Master's Degree candidate

We appreciate interns who have excellent writing skills, good time management, are on task, outgoing and willing to learn new material. Most importantly, we want interns to support Changemakers’ vision, and be able to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their work while they are with Ashoka.

 

Our goal is to ensure every intern has an excellent professional development experience. We regret that we can only offer unpaid internships at this time. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but please keep the following recommended timelines in mind. Internships are 8-10 weeks in duration but exact dates of internships are flexible:

 

Changemakers Intern Recruitment Schedule:

 

Spring Internships (Mid January – Late May)

Rolling Application Period: Early October – Late December

 

Summer Internships (Early June – Early August)

Rolling Application Period: Early December – Late February

 

Fall Internships (Late August – Mid December)

Rolling Application Period: Early May – Late July

 
 

Application Process: This is an unpaid, part-time internship. Ideal candidates will dedicate approximately 20 hours at the Ashoka Changemakers office a week, for 8-10 weeks.
