Ashoka joined the World Economic Forum’s COVID Response Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs, which was set up in April 2020 with the mission to stand by social entrepreneurs as first responders to the COVID-19 crisis and as pioneers of a new normal.

Over a year later, the crisis is far from over and millions of people are at risk of being left behind in the recovery.

In recognition of the devastating impacts of COVID on-the-ground in India and of the vital role of social entrepreneurs to achieve a just recovery, WEF has announced the list of World Economic Forum India Top 50 COVID-19 Last Mile Responders list: 50 leading social enterprises and partnership initiatives that are providing critical support on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis.

25 organizations on the list are founded by Ashoka Fellows. At a time where the country’s support systems have been stretched, they (and 12 other Ashoka Fellows) have stepped up. Collectively they have reached over 171 million people.
