Ashoka East Africa and FUSE Partner to Strengthen Social Entrepreneurship Across Africa
Ashoka East Africa and the Federation of Uganda Social Enterprises (FUSE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on the Pan African Social Enterprise Summit 2026. The agreement, signed on 25th May 2026, creates a clear framework for collaboration ahead of the Summit, which is set to take place from 19th to 20th November 2026 in Kampala, Uganda
This collaboration brings together two organisations with a deep commitment to social entrepreneurship and systemic change. At a time when innovative solutions are urgently needed across the continent, we believe this partnership will help create stronger connections and new opportunities for social entrepreneurs and changemakers to thrive.
About PSES 2026
The Pan African Social Enterprise Summit 2026, organised by FUSE, will bring together social entrepreneurs, changemakers, policymakers, investors, and supporters from across Africa. Over two days, the Summit will offer a vibrant space for discussion, exhibitions, networking, and the exchange of bold ideas that are shaping more inclusive and sustainable economies.
As the principal organiser, FUSE is working to ensure the event serves as a valuable platform for building partnerships and advancing the social enterprise sector. We see PSES 2026 as an important moment to strengthen a Pan-African movement of changemakers committed to lasting, positive change.
What the Partnership Means for Us
For Ashoka East Africa, the partnership with FUSE and a platform at PSES 2026 offers an unprecedented opportunity to bring the stories, voices, and innovations of its East Africa Fellows to a continental audience. Ashoka Fellows have spent years developing solutions to some of the region's most complex challenges. A continental platform allows that work to move beyond regional boundaries, to connect with counterparts from other parts of Africa, to attract new partners and investors, and to contribute to the pan-African narrative around social change.
Looking Ahead
This collaboration is about more than one event. It is about building stronger connections across the social entrepreneurship ecosystem and creating lasting opportunities for learning and partnership.
More broadly, this collaboration demonstrates what is possible when national sector bodies and regional fellowship networks choose to work together rather than in parallel. It offers a model for the kind of cross-institutional partnership that the African social enterprise ecosystem needs. One built on complementary strengths, shared values, and a common commitment to advancing sustainable social transformation across the continent.
As preparations for PSES 2026 continue, we are genuinely looking forward to welcoming Ashoka Fellows and partners to Kampala in November. We believe this gathering will be a powerful moment to celebrate progress, share ideas, and strengthen our collective effort to advance social entrepreneurship across Africa.
