In 2003, Ashoka made a strategic commitment to launch in Western Europe. The UK serves as the hub to all activity, based on Ashoka's long history of mobilizing a strong group of supporters in the UK.

Along with the election of the first Fellow in 2006, Ashoka UK has been focusing on fundraising and programmatic activities with the support of our global partners: McKinsey, Hill and Knowlton, and Latham and Watkins.

The citizen sector in the UK has a long tradition of social innovation and is remarkably vibrant, innovative, and sophisticated. In recent years, an influx of creativity, energy and resources from the business sector has stimulated a flurry of new and innovative citizen organizations.
