South America

Since launching Ashoka Brazil in 1986, Ashoka has elected over 500 leading social entrepreneurs from South America into its Global Fellowship. Issues such as rising inequality, fragile democratic participation, and accelerating environmental degradation demand innovative thinking; Ashoka Fellows today are working in fifteen countries across the region to introduce creative solutions to these seemingly intractable problems.

Ashoka's South America program leads the way in developing relationships between the social and business sectors. Successful models include the Entrepreneur to Entrepreneur our Strategic Partners programs – engaging business entrepreneurs and corporations in mutually beneficial relationships with social entrepreneurs – and the Ashoka-McKinsey Center for Social Entrepreneurship (CSE) with its pioneering business plan competition.

Ashoka operates four fully staffed offices in Mexico City, Lima, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo and several smaller offices.
