Social change leaders have historically been the targets of threat and intimidation as they try to restructure the balance of power, hierarchy, and opportunity in their communities. Since 2004 the world has seen a step-change in the intensity and nature of these threats and attacks against social entrepreneurs, across regions and fields of work.
Ashoka’s Fellow Security program offers prevention strategies and emergency support to social entrepreneurs facing threats, enabling them to safely and securely defend human rights and create social change.
Through a growing network of Ashoka Fellows and partner organizations, Ashoka’s Fellow Security program offers social entrepreneurs:
- Security Toolkit with safety recommendations, documentation strategies, and a list of international resources and networks
- Security training
- Legal assistance
- International Alerts
- Emergency funds and evacuation support
